Barbara Tabak, CID, WFCP owner of Decorating Den Interiors of Harrisburg, PA, has been awarded two Pyramid Awards for Interior Decorating from The Metropolitan Harrisburg Builders’ Association. The Pyramid Award program is a nationally recognized program administered throughout the country’s local HBA chapters to honor the best in building, remodeling, and sales & marketing. A panel of experts in the home improvement industry judged the photographs and design statements that explained the use of color, texture, furnishings, wall and window treatments.
“What makes these makeovers relatable to the residents of Central Pa is that they are spaces that were decorated for a local homeowner and a local business with real budgets. They were not rooms that were staged, where furnishings have been brought in to show a design concept. These are rooms that are actually lived and worked in,” states Tabak.
The award-winning music room was created for a client who wanted to transform her old-fashioned room into a fantastic lounge to use when family and friends come for a visit. “With that in mind, I designed a room that would reflect her preference for a traditionally styled space. The room was updated with tall board and batten wainscoting painted in a charcoal gray hue to sit in contrast to the white piano. The gray transitional wing-back chairs, plantation shutters and bar cabinet create a fantastic lounge for enjoying music, conversation and cocktails,” Tabak stated.
The second space was designed for a local dental office. The goal for this client’s unattractive, outdated dental office reception area was to create a calming and comfortable, space that would look more like a home than a dental office. “Altogether the room’s color scheme, comfortable furniture and nature-inspired finishes create an attractive environment that emphasizes tranquility and caring and makes a positive first impression,” states Tabak.
